Fero receives regulatory approval in Australia, opening new chapter

Drinks businesses in Australia can now access Fero’s global trade and supply chain platform, combining inventory financing with end-to-end supply chain management across domestic and international markets.

LONDON / SYDNEY, 15 July 2026 — Fero today announced it has received regulatory approval to operate in Australia. The approval brings Fero’s integrated trade and supply chain platform to Australia’s drinks industry.

Australian drinks producers, distributors and retailers can now leverage Fero’s technology, that combines inventory financing, supply chain automation, procurement and sales channel management and regulatory compliance through a single platform. From releasing working capital tied up in inventory to managing domestic and cross-border logistics, Fero enables businesses to operate more efficiently throughout the product lifecycle.

At its core, Fero addresses one of the industry’s most persistent challenges: bringing products to market efficiently while navigating the operational and regulatory complexity that comes with fragmented domestic and international trade. As producers expand into new markets, those challenges typically become more pronounced. Fero consolidates the entire process, simplifying the movement of goods and providing complete end-to-end visibility across the supply chain.

The platform supports the entire product journey, from production to final sale. For businesses seeking greater financial flexibility, Fero can also unlock capital against inventory at any stage of that journey, transforming inventory from a working capital constraint to a strategic source of liquidity. This enables producers to invest in growth, respond more quickly to market opportunities and expand into new geographies with greater confidence, while supporting expansion into key export markets including the UK, US and Europe.

Fero is now well positioned to improve routes to market for Australian wine and spirits producers, particularly those looking to expand internationally. By leveraging Fero’s existing infrastructure, producers can expand into new export markets without investing in local warehousing, fragmented distribution or operational set-up. Fero manages in-market inventory and fulfils orders on the producer’s behalf, allowing businesses to scale internationally with significantly less capital and operational complexity.

Australia’s wine and spirits sector contributes more than $66 billion (AUD) annually to the national economy and exports to over 120 countries. Despite its global standing, producers continue to face mounting pressures from increased costs, oversupply challenges due to shifting consumer and economic trends, regulatory complexity and the need for greater supply chain transparency. Fero’s platform and embedded capital solutions enable wine and spirits producers to focus their resources on activities that add value to their businesses, rather than administrative tasks that are not core to building brands and growing sales.

For Mitch Fowler, Fero’s co-founder and chief executive officer, launching in Australia is a significant strategic milestone for the business, and a personal one.

“I’m particularly excited to see the Fero platform available in Australia across all of the drinks categories we work with. Coming from the Hunter Valley, I’m a big advocate for the Australian wine industry and the many iconic and boutique producers that continue to draw interest to Australia’s wine scene, which remains home to some of the most distinctive and dynamic wine regions in the world. I know how hard producers work to make incredible wine and build a community around their products, so enabling producers to focus more on growing sales and less on what it takes to service those sales is more important now than ever. This is what Fero was built to do.”

— Mitch Fowler, co-founder and CEO, Fero

Fero’s operating model allows drinks businesses to fundamentally change how they manage and trade inventories. Rather than relying on a patchwork of ERP and SaaS solutions, emails, spreadsheets and manual tracking documents, Fero provides a unified system to manage their entire product lifecycle.

Lauren Thompson, Fero’s commercial director for Australia, will lead the regional roll-out, partnering with producers across Australia’s major wine and spirits regions.

“Australian wine and spirits producers are world-class, but too many of them are still managing international trade through fragmented processes including spreadsheets and email chains. The opportunity here is enormous. Fero lets them get their products from their cellar door or distillery to a customer in London or Amsterdam with everything handled in one place with the funding, the freight, the documents and the compliance on a single platform. That’s a step-change in how this industry can operate, and I’m excited to help bring that transformation to the Australian market.”

— Lauren Thompson, commercial director for Australia, Fero
